City of Menifee Celebrates Manufacturing Day, Raises Awareness of Vital Industry
The Menifee City Council has proclaimed October 6 as “Manufacturing Day” in Menifee.
Manufacturing Day coincides with National Manufacturing Month and is celebrated on the first Friday in
October every year. The proclamation was the City’s fifth consecutive year honoring Manufacturing Day,
reaffirming Menifee’s commitment to attracting and encouraging growth and support of the advanced
manufacturing industry in Menifee.
The goals of Manufacturing Day are to inspire the next generation of advanced manufacturers and to
address misconceptions about the manufacturing industry. As the world advances in the fourth industrial
revolution, new high-wage careers are linked to the latest advanced manufacturing technologies that
require a skilled workforce. In the past decade, more than 1.3 million manufacturing jobs have been
added to the U.S. economy. It is important to bring awareness of this industry to students, as it allows
them to explore the benefits and opportunities in this dynamic career field, particularly in Menifee.
Additionally, Mayor Bill Zimmerman along with Menifee’s Office of Economic Development and the
Southwest Riverside County Economic Development Coalition will be hosting the Mayor’s Idea Exchange
for manufacturers on Thursday, October 12 at 9 a.m. This regional collaboration will feature a panel of
industry experts offering an interactive discussion based around the manufacturing industry and
workforce development opportunities. For more information or to register, please visit
